Borneo Barracks Golf Course Inc “Cabarlah Golf Club”
VERY IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
Defence Estate (Non-Military) advised on Friday, 27 February 2026, that effective Sunday 1 March 2026, visitors to the golf course who are not accompanied by a Golf Club Member holding a current Defence Force–issued Defence Common Area Access Card (Pass) will no longer be permitted entry to the Borneo Barracks Defence Establishment, including the golf course.
Members of the Borneo Barracks Golf Club who hold a valid Pass may escort up to five (5) guests. However, members awaiting the reissue of expired Defence Passes will not be granted access until their Pass has been officially renewed.
In response to these changes and in order to operate within the revised access requirements, the Borneo Barracks Golf Club will introduce a new category of admission designed specifically for casual golfers within the local community. This new category will be known as the: Social Player
What does the Social Player mean?
Borneo Barracks Golf Club advises that applicants for the new Social Player category are to submit a completed Social Player Application Form together with a clear photographed copy (front and back) of their current driver’s licence.
Applicants may subsequently be contacted to confirm their identity with a Defence delegate at the front gate of Borneo Barracks (Cabarlah). Once identity verification is completed, applicants will be notified to collect their issued access card from the Oakey Base Office.
The issued card will provide the following benefits:
-
No requirement to sign in or collect daily visitor passes at the Cabarlah front gate for three years. Presentation of the issued card will allow immediate entry.
-
Ability to access and play the golf course without the current time restrictions that apply to registered visitors.
-
Authority to sign in and host up to five (5) guests. (Persons aged 16 years and under must continue to be escorted by an adult.)
-
Continued payment of all applicable social green fees, cart hire fees, and competition fees as required.
This initiative ensures continued community access while complying with updated Defence access requirements.
How much does Social Access Player cost?
The Social Player designation is offered at no cost and is designed for individuals who play either occasionally or regularly and are comfortable not holding an AGU handicap or insurance. This category provides unrestricted daytime access to Cabarlah Golf Club while offering a flexible and accessible option for social golfers.
Additionally, the Club does not charge members for the use of their own golf carts on the course.
