Cabarlah Golf Course Delighted with Heritage Bank Grant

On 28 February the Cabarlah Golf Course could have thought they won the lottery when the Progressive Community Crows Nest Board (Heritage Bank Highfields and Crows Nest Community Branches) approved a grant for $20,000 towards the purchase of a new “Fairway Rough” mower.  The new Kubota F3690 will provide for the well maintained and appealing 18 hole golf course sporting a Golf Pro, Golf Carts and is open to the public for social play.

Heritage Highfields Community Branch is a joint venture between Heritage and the local community represented by the Progressive Community Crows Nest (PCCN).

Under the Heritage community branch model, PCCN’s share of profits is distributed back to into the community as grants to local organisations, charities and special community events.

Heritage Highfields Community Branch Manager Aaron Jones said,” We’re absolutely thrilled to present Borneo Barracks Golf Club in Cabarlah with a $20,000 community grant to purchase a new ride on mower.  This will make a huge difference in helping the Superintendent and dedicated volunteers with the daily maintenance of the course.

The beauty about being a community branch is that the more people bank with us, the more we can give back through our community grants program, sponsorships and more.

People can see real examples of local initiatives they’ve helped support just by doing their everyday banking with Heritage. It’s a great example of locals supporting local.”

Pro Shop Renovations/ update

As we know Grant Harriman, our new Golf Pro is scheduled to start at the club on Tuesday, 27 February 2024.

To ensure Grant starts from a “blank piece of paper”, the Club committee and members have devoted time and energy, and most importantly, their skills, or just brawn, to preparing the Golf Pro shop area for Grant and the Club.

I would like to pay particular attention to the efforts of Tony Wright who has done an extraordinary job along with the efforts of Mark Hancock and our plasterer extrodinair- John Davies.

Gary Trussell, Ian Harrison and Graham James and of course our home trusted sparky Briane Northwood. are also gifted tradies and handymen who were a fantastic help and contribution.

I would like to say a huge thank you for their work and without their efforts the club would be financially poorer and Grant would not have such a great place to start his business career.

Kind regards

Bob Foot President

Well done to our reps from the committee Bob Mark and Macca who have just won the committee challenge at Allora today. Great work guys. They’ve won some money for the club to boot.

Hi all, players please note some construction works are now happening on the base . The following is the letter from defence for us to take note of.

A new construction project is about to commence; they will begin moving their site equipment on base this week.

The works are located on the western side of the base, with all access via the front gate, turning right at the round-about and traversing along Kappe and Woolard Roads. The works themselves will not impact the golf course however, it is important to remind all players to be mindful of the construction traffic when entering the base, crossing the road from the club house to the course and when entering/exiting the club car park. Kappe Road will be closed to all non-project traffic at a point north of the car park, clearly marked with signage and a chain barrier.

As with previous projects, players should be mindful of all traffic and put safety first – giving way to heavy vehicles, following signs and abiding by the instructions of guards and traffic controllers when in place.

Member s who require a new gate pass please email the club with your details and await an email from us before ringing defence about your pass.
